One of the most unbelievable estate sales I've ever been to took place last May in Bel Air. The estate belonged to famed Hollywood director Delmer Daves and his actress wife Mary Lawrence. Their Bel Air home had stood still in time for decades, allowing for the most magical time capsule estate sale. I showed up first thing 3 out of 4 days of the sale and probably spent my rent 2x over. So.. let's get into the SPLENDOR of this sale!
The home itself was built in the 30's with a Southern style, reminiscent of Gone With The Wind. The foyer had fabulous black and white tile, chandeliers twinkled in each room, and the walls were dripping in world-class art. In the first 2 minutes, almost half of the sale sold on the spot to Hollywood actress Sydney Sweeney, who had just purchased the home. It was a bummer for everyone wanting to purchase those items, but I do appreciate the fact that she cares about Old Hollywood history. She will be restoring the entire home to it's original glory!
Day by day I took home more fabulous one-of-a-kind pieces: candelabras, Meissen Blue Onion, fur coats, a custom red carpet dress, handbags, a lamp, and much more!
Many of these pieces are still available in my shop like the Meissen plates, furs, and beaded dress!
